Chesapeake Property Management & Anne Arundel County
Anne Arundel County - and the Ft. Meade area - is an amazing place. However, it can also be confusing and overwhelming for a first-timer. Between Washington DC and Baltimore, the Ft. Meade area is densely populated, geographically spread out, and, depending on where you are coming from, expensive.
Chesapeake Property Management and Yaffe Real Estate have first-hand knowledge of Anne Arundel County. Not only did we once have an office in Odenton, but we also have strong family ties to the area.
This article titled Odenton Shopping Center: What's Under the Asphalt describes the Odenton Shopping Center, a local fixture for over 50 years, and the historical significance of the land it is built upon. The article explains,
"Several families owned the sections of land that would need to be purchased to build the OSC. David Eutsler purchased the wooded lots in the late 1950?s and later partnered with Stanley Yaffe to assemble the lots necessary to build the OSC. Research is ongoing into the dates the OSC opened and tenants filled the space. From what has been learned thus far, the Odenton Shopping Center opened in 1958."
Those families - including the Yaffe family - became the area's first retailers and business resources. One family member ran the Grapevine Restaurant in the Odenton Shopping Center and Stanley Yaffe (Wayne's dad) operated the Beacon Pharmacy until 1995. You can imagine how many families he got to know and take care of over the years. His children grew up running up and down the aisles, getting to know customers, selling snowballs and generally helping out wherever necessary. In the early 2000s, we had an office in the Piney Orchard Shopping Center. We know this area intimately.
